Discover Deep Creek Falls
Deep Creek Falls is about 25 feet (7.6 meters) tall. It's a popular place for people traveling through the area. Many visitors stop here to enjoy nature.
Home to Unique Fish
The waterfall acts like a natural barrier for some fish. For example, a special fish called the Warner sucker only lives downstream from the falls. The falls also separate the creek's native redband trout into two different groups. One group lives above the falls, and another lives below.
However, some fish, like brook trout, can easily pass the falls. Fish released from hatcheries in Deep Creek can also move freely.
A Fun Stop for Travelers
The lower part of Deep Creek runs right alongside Oregon Route 140. This makes the falls a great place for travelers to stop. People often pull off the highway to stretch their legs or go fish.
Deep Creek Falls is also a popular spot on the Oregon Outback Scenic Bikeway. This bike path follows Route 140 right past the waterfall. It's a perfect place for cyclists to take a break.
Wildlife Around the Falls
The steep cliffs next to the falls are home to many cool birds. You might see cliff swallows building their nests there. Falcons and eagles also love to live and hunt around these cliffs. It's a great place for birdwatching!
