Deka Lake is a beautiful freshwater lake located in the Cariboo region of British Columbia, Canada. It is part of the Interlakes area, which is famous for its many lakes. Deka Lake has two islands, and one of them is privately owned. The name "Deka Lake" also refers to the small community that lives around the lake. Its name comes from a mistake! It was supposed to be "Decker," after a family from the Canim Lake Indian Band.

Fishing at Deka Lake
The lake is regularly filled with Rainbow Trout and Kokanee fish. This makes it a popular place for people who enjoy fishing. However, if you catch a Lake Trout, you must release it back into the water. These fish are not restocked, so it's important to protect them.
Exploring Nearby Parks
Rainbow/Q'iwentem Provincial Park is located right next to Deka Lake. This park offers a chance to enjoy nature. If you like paddling, you can even move your canoe or kayak between Sulphurous Lake and Deka Lake where they are closest.
Camp Deka
A YMCA camp called Camp Deka used to be on the northern side of the lake. It was a place where kids could go for summer fun and learning. However, the camp closed in 2017.
The Deka Lake Community
The people living around Deka Lake are part of a close-knit community. They have their own volunteer fire department.
Deka Lake Volunteer Fire Department
The Deka Lake Volunteer Fire Department helps keep the lake and the surrounding community safe. They even have a special fire boat to help with emergencies on the water! This fire department also hosts a fun annual fishing derby, which is a popular event for locals and visitors.
