After finishing high school, Belindo continued his education at several colleges. He studied at Bacone College, the University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma City University School of Law, and the University of New Mexico.

Belindo mostly lived and worked in Oklahoma. He became well-known for his bright and colorful paintings and prints. Besides creating art, he also gave many talks and presentations about art and topics related to the Kiowa people. His Family and Legacy

Dennis Belindo was the father of two sons, Jon and Barry Belindo. Both of his sons also became artists. In 2006, a special art show was held at the Southern Plains Indian Museum in Anadarko, Oklahoma. This show featured the artwork of Dennis Belindo and his sons. The exhibit was called Goomda tday khon gyuop ah daw, which means "They are Goomda's grandchildren." It was dedicated to Belindo's grandfather on his mother's side.

Belindo once said about this exhibit, "At this point in my life, I am dedicated to working with the young people of the Kiowa nation. As an artist, I want to inspire others to create art as part of the Kiowa people's culture. I am part of the last generation to have known the old people." This shows how much he cared about sharing his knowledge and inspiring new artists.

Dennis Belindo passed away in 2009 in Oklahoma City. He was buried in the Rainy Mountain KCA Intertribal Cemetery.
