Der kleine Vampir – Neue Abenteuer (which means The Little Vampire – New Adventures) is a fun German TV show for kids. It was made in 1993 and has 13 episodes. The series is based on two books from the popular Der kleine Vampir series. These books were written by the German author Angela Sommer-Bodenburg.
This show is a new version of a 1986 TV series called Der kleine Vampir. That earlier show was based on different books from the same series. New actors were chosen for the 1993 series. This was because the original actors had grown too old for their roles. The 1993 series tells a new story. It also introduces the parents of Anna and Rüdiger. Uncle Theodor, a character from the 1986 series, is not in this show. This is because his story in the books meant he was no longer around.

Meet Anton and His Vampire Friends
This exciting TV series follows Anton Bohnsack, a 10-year-old boy. Anton becomes good friends with Rüdiger von Schlotterstein and his sister Anna. Anton's parents, Helga and Robert, are not very happy about Rüdiger and Anna. They seem a bit messy and wear strange clothes. But there's a secret: Rüdiger and Anna are actually vampires! They live with their family in a hidden crypt at the old local cemetery.
Anton goes on many amazing adventures with his vampire friends. He tries to tell his parents about these adventures. However, they don't believe him. They think Anton is just making up stories because he loves horror tales. Anna and Rüdiger can fly using their special vampire cloaks. They even give Anton a vampire cloak that belonged to their Uncle Theodor. Also, Anna has a crush on Anton.
Anton is excited for the upcoming school holidays. But his parents decide they will spend their vacation on a farm in Ottenbüttel. Anton asks Rüdiger to come along. Rüdiger first says no because he's not sure about living on a farm. Later, Rüdiger gets into trouble with his cousin Jörg. This forces Rüdiger to hide. So, he and Anna end up traveling to the farm after all.
While at the farm, Rüdiger almost gets caught by the farmer. A man named Doctor Heinrich Stöbermann turns out to be a vampire hunter. He is also a good friend of Johann Geiermeier. Geiermeier is also a vampire hunter. He works as the handyman and gravedigger at the cemetery where Rüdiger's family lives. Heinrich suspects there are vampires near the farm. He asks Geiermeier to come and help. Geiermeier accidentally falls into a vampire trap set by Stöbermann. The next day, Geiermeier is very angry. He leaves the farm and doesn't want to see Stöbermann again.
Anton learns to ride horses and even wins a horse-riding competition. He, Rüdiger, and Anna also attend an "International Vampire Party." Anton is very surprised to find his own parents at the party!
Exciting Episodes
Episode 1: Fear in the Night
Anton is home alone while his parents, Helga and Robert, are at the theater. Anton decides to visit his friend Rüdiger in his crypt. They play a game of "vampire and hunter." Anton's parents come home early and call the police when they can't find their son. Meanwhile, Rüdiger's vampire family members are heading to the crypt. The gravedigger, Johan Geiermeier, who is also a vampire hunter, stops them. The family manages to escape. When Anton gets home, he has to explain where he was. Even though he tells the truth, his parents don't believe him. He gets grounded for a week. His parents also tell him they are going on vacation to a farm in Ottenbüttel.
Episode 2: Anna in Trouble
Anna is playing near the cemetery and gets caught by Geiermeier. He takes her to his house. Her mother, Hildegard the Thirsty, sees this happen. She secretly enters Geiermeier's house. She hears Geiermeier trying to make Anna admit she is a vampire. A worried Hildegard goes to the crypt for help. Rüdiger comes up with a plan: Anna must convince Geiermeier she is human. She flies to Anton's house. Anna also has a plan: she tries to convince Geiermeier that she is Anton's sister and asks him to call Anton. Rüdiger arrives at Anton's place, but Anton can't help because he's grounded. So, they switch places. Anton tells his parents he's going to sleep, but it's actually Rüdiger in his bed. Anton runs to Geiermeier's house. To prove he is human, Anton eats some garlic. This convinces Geiermeier, and he lets Anna go. Back home, Anton asks Rüdiger to join him on his vacation, but Rüdiger says no.
Episode 3: Surprise During the Night
Anton's parents have to go to a dinner. They ask their neighbor, Miss Puvogel, who loves watching TV, to be the nanny. Anton tells Miss Puvogel he's tired and goes to bed. But he sneaks out and visits the fair with Rüdiger. They go into a haunted house. Rüdiger accidentally breaks one of the "dolls" with a stick. It turns out it wasn't a doll at all! It was Rüdiger's cousin, Jörg the Irascible. Jörg was hiding in the haunted house looking for a "snack." Jörg chases after Rüdiger and promises to hurt him. Geiermeier, who is also at the fair, spots the vampires. So, Jörg stops chasing Rüdiger for a moment. Rüdiger decides to join Anton on the farm. He knows Jörg won't look for him there.
Episode 4: Geiermeier's Suspicions
Anna lends her friendship book to Anton. He will be the first human to write in it. The book ends up in Geiermeier's hands. Now, Geiermeier thinks Anton and his parents are vampires. The next morning, Geiermeier sneaks into Anton's parents' bedroom. He is about to try and prove they are vampires. Anton stops him by opening the curtains. This shows that he and his parents can stand sunlight. Because Anton loves horror stories, Geiermeier decides the book contains made-up stories by Anton. He gives the book back. Anton returns it to Anna. Anton's school grades are getting worse because of his late-night adventures. His teacher, Miss Schlauberger, wants to meet with his parents.
Episode 5: The Coffin Must Come Along
Soon, Anton leaves with his parents for the farm. Rüdiger wants to go too, to stay away from Jörg. There's a big problem: how can a vampire travel? So, his coffin is wrapped in paper, and Rüdiger dresses up like a human. This way, they leave the crypt and head to the train station. At the cemetery, they meet Geiermeier. He used to think Anton and Anna were vampires. But after recent events, he believes they are human. Because of Rüdiger's disguise, Geiermeier thinks he is from Tyrol. The children trick Geiermeier by telling him the package contains 7000 strings of garlic. He helps them carry the package. Just before the train leaves, Geiermeier realizes Rüdiger and Anna are vampires. He chases after Anna, but she escapes. Meanwhile, Jörg is in the Schlottersteins' crypt, looking for Rüdiger.
Episode 6: Nightly Train Ride
During the train journey to Ottenbüttel, Anton and Rüdiger play a board game. When an old lady enters their compartment, a problem comes up. Rüdiger hasn't eaten and now wants the lady as a meal. He flies towards her, but she runs away and pulls the emergency brake. Anton explains to the ticket collector that the old lady misunderstood the situation. The journey continues. But Rüdiger goes to the old lady and tells her he is a real vampire. The old lady faints. Since this is the second time the boys have caused trouble, they are kicked off the train. They must continue their trip on foot.
Episode 7: Panic About Rüdiger
Anton and Rüdiger arrive at the farm. Anton starts looking for Rüdiger's coffin and a place where the vampire can sleep. He finds an old windmill that will work. He also meets Hermann and Johanna Hering, the farmer's children. Aunt Dorothee, still in the crypt, realizes there are many vampire hunters in the countryside. She decides to travel to Ottenbüttel. The farmer's wife discovers the chickens are missing from their coop. She also finds a strange cloak. She calls Doctor Stöbermann to investigate. He is sure this is the work of vampires.
Episode 8: Every Cloud Has a Silver Lining
Anton gets sick, and his mother calls Doctor Stöbermann. Stöbermann reveals he is a vampire hunter. Farmer Hering now uses Rüdiger's cloak as a scarecrow. Anna, who had to escape from Geiermeier earlier, travels to Ottenbüttel on foot. She sees the cloak in a field and thinks her brother is gone. At this moment, Stöbermann passes by with his Dalmatian dog, Brutus. He is looking for vampires and finds a crying Anna. She tells Stöbermann she is trying to find her friend Anton. Stöbermann takes Anna to the farm. Not much later, Stöbermann, Anna, and Anton see Rüdiger climb into a tree because of Brutus. Anna and Anton convince Stöbermann that Brutus didn't attack Rüdiger because he was a vampire. They say the dog was scared for some other reason.
Episode 9: Speak of the Devil
Rüdiger now likes the countryside. He, Anna, and Anton find some horses and ride them every night. A few days later, farmer Hering calls Stöbermann to check on the horses. They are tired for unknown reasons. Stöbermann thinks he has a suspect. This is confirmed when he sees Anna flying. Next, Stöbermann calls his friend Geiermeier. Both vampire hunters set up a trap. Geiermeier accidentally falls into a vampire trap set by Stöbermann. The next day, a very angry Geiermeier leaves. He ends his friendship with Stöbermann. Anton wins the horse-riding tournament.
Episode 10: The Fearful Organ Player
It's Anna's birthday, and she invites Anton to a party in the church. There, they are surprised by Stöbermann, who manages to grab Anton. Anna escapes. Anton convinces Stöbermann that he is hiding from a scary vampire. He says he is now afraid to go to the farm alone. Stöbermann takes Anton to the farm and asks him about the vampire's presence. Meanwhile, Aunt Dorothee arrives in Ottenbüttel and hides in the same windmill. Some days later, it turns out the vampire Anton described really exists. It seems to be Ludwig the Terrible, Anna and Rüdiger's father. He is also hiding in the windmill. Ludwig and Anna go to the church, where he plays the organ for her. Stöbermann discovers this. He asks Anton to become his assistant as a vampire hunter. After sunset, farmer Hering invites Stöbermann, Helga, and Robert for a drink. Helga sees a big bat in the sky. She soon realizes this might be a vampire.
Episode 11: The Eerie Show
Anton discovers that Stöbermann has made some vampire traps disguised as coffins. He warns the vampires. Meanwhile, The Peanuts, an American family traveling in Germany, notice the windmill. They want to buy it. Lumpi, Anna and Rüdiger's older brother, also arrives. He has an idea: they will surprise the Peanuts with an eerie show. However, the Peanuts think the show is brilliant. Now, they want to buy the windmill and offer the "actors" a contract to perform their show in America. Their opinion changes after Mr. Peanuts lies down in a coffin. It's actually a vampire trap made by Stöbermann! Because of this incident, the Peanuts no longer want to buy the windmill. They think it attracts vampires.
Episode 12: The Blood-Red Ruby
Stöbermann is certain: vampires are hiding in the old windmill. Anton tries to stop Stöbermann, but Stöbermann finds Rüdiger's coffin. When he opens it, it's empty. The vampire family has traveled back to their own crypt. They went to pick up a blood-red ruby. This ruby is a special trophy. It is won during the International Vampire Party. The Schlottersteins were given it 130 years ago. Now there is panic because the blood-red ruby cannot be found. Rüdiger's great-grandparents, Sabine the Terrible and Wilhelm the Wild, think the ruby was stolen by vampire hunter Kuno Bösermann. They believe he took it after he attacked vampire Viktoria the Unlucky. Upset, they head back to the old windmill. When Anton hears about the missing ruby, he starts investigating. It turns out Kuno's real last name is Stöbermann. He is the grandfather of Doctor Stöbermann. Anton, Anna, and Rüdiger sneak into his house and find the ruby.
Episode 13: The Vampire Party
The International Vampire Party takes place in an abandoned factory. It's not far from the windmill. Anton, dressed as a vampire, joins Rüdiger and Anna. He is introduced as Uwe the Fearless. Anton is surprised when he finds out his parents are also at the party. However, they think they are supporting actors for a vampire movie. So, Rüdiger introduces them as members of the "Skorpio-clan." This is a scary vampire clan. This will keep them safe. During the party's most exciting moment, Anton receives the highest honor. He will be the new owner of the ruby. This is a huge problem! Anton and his parents would have to organize the next International Vampire Party. That party will only happen in 130 years! Anton pretends he just became a vampire. He says he shouldn't get the title yet. Anton's mother leaves the party to get some fresh air. Stöbermann overpowers her. He wants to harm her. Luckily, Helga can remove her fake vampire teeth. This shows she is human. A confused Stöbermann sneaks away. The next day, the Bohnsack family travels back home. They take Rüdiger's coffin with them. Helga and Robert think the coffin is just a prop used for the movie.
