Derrius Brooks (born May 29, 1988) is a former American football player. He played as a defensive back, which is a position in football that helps stop the other team from scoring. Derrius played college football at Western Kentucky University. He also went to Harris County High School in Hamilton, Georgia. Throughout his career, he played for several teams, including the Cincinnati Bengals, Calgary Stampeders, New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Saskatchewan Roughriders, and Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Derrius Brooks's Football Journey
Derrius Brooks had an interesting journey in professional football, playing in both the National Football League (NFL) and the Canadian Football League (CFL).
Starting with the Cincinnati Bengals
After college, Derrius was not chosen in the 2012 NFL draft. However, the Cincinnati Bengals signed him on May 2, 2012. He was with the team for a short time before being released on May 11, 2012.
Playing in Canada with the Calgary Stampeders
Later in 2012, Derrius moved to Canada to play for the Calgary Stampeders in the CFL. He played for them during the 2012 and 2013 seasons. During his time with the Stampeders, he played in 20 games. He made 50 tackles, which means he stopped the opposing team's players 50 times. He also had 9 special teams tackles and caught 5 interceptions, which means he caught the ball when the other team was trying to pass it.
Back to the NFL with the New Orleans Saints
On January 2, 2014, Derrius signed with the New Orleans Saints in the NFL. He stayed with the team until August 30, 2014, when he was released.
Time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Soon after leaving the Saints, Derrius joined the practice squad of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on September 1, 2014. A practice squad is a group of players who train with the team but are not on the main roster. His contract with the Buccaneers ended on January 5, 2015.
Another CFL Team: Saskatchewan Roughriders
On January 11, 2016, Derrius signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, another CFL team. However, he was released by the team on October 3, 2016, and did not play in any games for them.
Hamilton Tiger-Cats and a Health Scare
Derrius signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the CFL on October 10, 2016. He played in 3 games for them in October and November 2016. During one game, he was taken off the field on a stretcher and went to the hospital. Luckily, all his tests came back normal, and he was released from the hospital that same night. He was released by the Tiger-Cats before their first playoff game.
Playing Arena Football with the Columbus Lions
In December 2016, Derrius signed with the Columbus Lions. This team plays in the National Arena League, which is a type of indoor football. He was released by the Lions on May 18, 2017.
