Derrius Brooks (born May 29, 1988) is a former American football player. He played as a defensive back, which is a player who tries to stop the other team from catching passes. Derrius played college football at Western Kentucky University. He also went to Harris County High School in Hamilton, Georgia.
Over his career, he was part of several teams. These include the Cincinnati Bengals, Calgary Stampeders, New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Saskatchewan Roughriders, and Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Derrius Brooks' Football Journey
Derrius Brooks started his professional football journey in 2012. He joined different teams in both the National Football League (NFL) and the Canadian Football League (CFL).
Starting with the Bengals
After college, Derrius was not chosen in the 2012 NFL draft. This means he was an "undrafted" player. However, the Cincinnati Bengals signed him on May 2, 2012. He was with the Bengals for a short time before being released on May 11, 2012.
Playing in Canada: Calgary Stampeders
Later in 2012, Derrius signed with the Calgary Stampeders. This team plays in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played for the Stampeders during the 2012 and 2013 seasons. During his time there, he played in 20 games. He made 50 tackles and caught 5 interceptions.
Back in the NFL: New Orleans and Tampa Bay
In 2014, Derrius returned to the NFL. He signed with the New Orleans Saints on January 2, 2014. He stayed with the Saints until August 30, 2014, when he was released.
Soon after, on September 1, 2014, Derrius joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was signed to their "practice squad." A practice squad is a group of players who train with the team but don't usually play in games. Their job is to help the main team practice. His time with the Buccaneers ended on January 5, 2015.
More Canadian Football: Roughriders and Tiger-Cats
Derrius went back to the CFL in 2016. He signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on January 11, 2016. However, he was released by the team on October 3, 2016. He did not play in any games for them.
On October 10, 2016, Derrius signed with another CFL team, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He played in 3 games for them in October and November 2016. During one game, he had a health scare on the field. Thankfully, tests showed he was okay, and he was released from the hospital later that night. He left the Tiger-Cats before their first playoff game.
Arena Football: Columbus Lions
In December 2016, Derrius signed with the Columbus Lions. This team plays in the National Arena League (NAL), which is a type of indoor football. He was released by the Lions on May 18, 2017.
