Exploring the Devon Way Path
The Devon Way offers a fun adventure for anyone who loves being outdoors. It's a great way to see the Scottish countryside.
Starting Your Journey in Dollar
If you start in Dollar, the path begins just past the village centre. Look for a pedestrian bridge over the Dollar Burn. Cross this bridge and head west. You will soon reach the old platforms of the Dollar railway station. This is where the railway used to be!
Following the River Devon
As you walk or ride, the path stays close to the River Devon. You'll go under two bridges and through a lovely wooded area. There's also a short part where the path runs right next to the river. Here, you can enjoy amazing views of King's Seat and the Ochil Hills.
Reaching Tillicoultry
Near Tillicoultry, you'll pass a large white building. This is the Sterling Furniture factory. The path ends in Tillicoultry on the main road. It's close to where the old Tillicoultry railway station used to be.
Extending Your Adventure
The Route 767 cycle path continues from Tillicoultry to Alloa. This adds another 3.25 miles (5.2 km) to your trip. So, the total walk from Dollar to Alloa would be about 6.5 miles (10.5 km).
You can also extend your walk from Dollar in the other direction. If you head towards Muckhart, the total distance is about 6 miles (9.7 km). This route uses parts of the old railway, small roads, and public footpaths.
