Diamond Valley (Nevada) facts for kids

Diamond Valley is a large, flat area of land, like a big bowl, located in central Nevada, in the western United States. It sits between two mountain ranges: the Sulphur Spring Range and the Diamond Mountains.
Exploring Diamond Valley's Landscape

Most of Diamond Valley is in Eureka County. A small part of its northern end reaches into Elko County. The valley is quite large, stretching over 45 miles (72 kilometers) long and up to 12 miles (19 kilometers) wide.
The town of Eureka is found at the southern end of Diamond Valley. The northern end has a special type of flat land called an alkali flat. This means the soil has a lot of salt and minerals. You can also find several small lakes in the western part of the valley, near Sadler Brown Road. The Eureka Airport is also located towards the southern part of the valley.
Farming in Diamond Valley

Diamond Valley is well-known for its farms. These farms grow different types of hay, like Timothy hay and Alfalfa hay. They also grow grains such as wheat and oats, and a type of grass called orchard grass.
This hay is very important! It is used as food for animals at racetracks, dairies (where milk is produced), and feed stores. The hay from Diamond Valley is sent all over the United States and even exported to other countries.
