School History
Dinajpur Zilla School first opened its doors in 1854. It was started in the Pratap House by Raja Tarakanath. Just two years later, in 1856, the government took over the school. It then became known as a "Zilla" school, which means a district school.
How the School Grew
Even after the government took charge, the school still received money and help. The king and other important local people supported it throughout the 1800s. Dinajpur Zilla School has a very good record for students graduating in Bangladesh.
The main school building you see today was built in the 1900s. It was updated again in the 2000s to make it even better. The school's main office and library are in a special old building. This building was once a tax office built by King Baiyanath in the 1700s. The place where students can live, called the hostel, was built in 1910 and is still used today.
How to Join the School
Most students join Dinajpur Zilla School in class 3. Students usually spend a year getting ready for the entrance exam. For example, students who are in class 2 prepare for the test. This exam usually happens in the last week of December.
