Dingmans Ferry is a small community in Pike County, Pennsylvania, United States. It's not a city or town with its own mayor, but rather a part of Delaware Township. In 2014, about 1,000 people lived here.
Originally, Dingmans Ferry was located right by the Delaware River. This area is now part of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. In the mid-1900s, the United States government planned to build a large dam called the Tocks Island Dam. Because of this project, the community of Dingmans Ferry had to move further up the hill.
The dam project faced many delays. People living in the area didn't want to move, and there were concerns about the dam's location. Eventually, the project was cancelled because the planned dam site was on a fault line. After the dam project ended, the land the government had bought became part of the National Park Service's Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.
