Disney Channel is a TV channel in Germany. It is owned by The Walt Disney Company Germany. The channel is based in Munich. It shows programs for kids and families.
You can watch many different types of programs on Disney Channel. These include original TV shows and movies made by Disney. It also shows other popular programs. Many of the original shows come from the Disney Channel in the United States.
The channel first started on 16 October 1999. Back then, it was a special channel you had to pay for. It was part of the Sky Deutschland TV service. But it closed down on 30 November 2013.

History of Disney Channel Germany
Walt Disney Television International opened its German offices. This happened near Munich on 1 March 1999. Disney Channel Germany then launched on 16 October 1999. It started as a channel you paid to watch.
Disney bought a free TV station called Das Vierte in December 2012. In April 2013, Disney announced a big change. Das Vierte would become Disney Channel in January 2014. It would be a 24-hour channel for families. Lars Wagner, the head of Disney Channel in Germany, led this change.
When the free channel launched, it showed popular Disney Channel shows during the day. These included Jessie, Austin & Ally, Phineas and Ferb, and Gravity Falls. In the evenings, they showed Pixar movies. They also showed older shows, including some from ABC Family.
Disney started its own company to sell ads for the channel. This company was called Disney Media +. The channel also became available online. You could watch it live or catch up on shows you missed. The free channel officially started on 17 January 2014 at 6 AM. The first thing shown was the classic cartoon Steamboat Willie. Disney said that after its first weekend, it became the third most-watched kids' channel.
