This action unfortunately damaged some nerves in his back. Because of this serious injury, he had to stop playing football. Even with this tough experience, he felt lucky. The hook missed his spinal cord by only a small distance.
Life After Football
After his football career ended, Ditmar Jakobs started a new job. He became an insurance broker. He works in Norderstedt, which is a town near Hamburg.
