His Important Roles
Dmitry Polyansky had two main very important jobs during his career. These roles showed his influence and leadership within the Soviet Union.
Leading the Russian SFSR
From 1958 to 1962, Dmitry Polyansky was the Chairman of the Council of Ministers for the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (RSFSR). Think of this like being the Premier or top leader of one of the biggest parts of the Soviet Union. The RSFSR was the largest of the 15 republics that made up the Soviet Union. In this role, he was responsible for managing the government and its daily operations in this huge region.
A Top National Leader
Later, from 1965 to 1973, Polyansky became the First Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Soviet Union. This was a very powerful position, similar to being a Vice-Premier or a top assistant to the head of the entire Soviet government. In this role, he helped lead the whole country, working closely with the Premier, Alexei Kosygin, to make important decisions for the Soviet Union.
Awards and Recognition
For his service and contributions, Dmitry Polyansky received four Orders of Lenin. The Order of Lenin was one of the highest awards given in the Soviet Union. It recognized people for their outstanding achievements in various fields, including politics and public service.
