Dobson is a small town in Surry County, North Carolina, in the United States. In 2020, about 1,396 people lived there. It's also the main town, or "county seat," for Surry County.
Dobson is famous for Shelton Vineyards, which is the biggest winery in North Carolina. Many people from Latino backgrounds live here. This is because there are many farms in the area. The main crops grown around Dobson are corn, tobacco, and soybeans.

History of Dobson
Dobson became the "county seat" in 1853. This means it became the main town where the county government is located. Before that, the county seat was a town called Rockford.
Dobson became the new county seat after a part of Surry County was used to create Yadkin County.
Two important old buildings in Dobson are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. These are the Edwards-Franklin House and the Surry County Courthouse.

Dobson has been home to several notable people:
- William Wade Hampton (1858–1930) was a state senator and state representative. He helped make laws for North Carolina.
- Caleb V. Haynes was a major general in the United States Air Force. He was a pioneer in aviation, meaning he was one of the first to do important things with airplanes.
- Tabitha Ann Holton became the first licensed female lawyer in the Southern United States in 1878. She worked as a lawyer in Dobson from 1878 to 1886.
- Roy H. Park was a well-known broadcaster and publisher.
