Joseph Dollard Herve St. Laurent (born May 12, 1929 – died April 6, 2015) was a Canadian ice hockey defenceman. He was known for his strong defensive play.

Dollard St. Laurent played in the National Hockey League (NHL). He started his NHL career with the Montreal Canadiens in 1951. He spent eight years with the Canadiens. Later, he was traded to the Chicago Black Hawks. He won five Stanley Cups during his career. Four of these wins were with Montreal, and one was with Chicago.

Dollard St. Laurent was a talented ice hockey player. He played as a defenceman. This position means he helped protect his team's goal. He was known for being tough and good at stopping opponents.

Starting His Hockey Journey

Dollard began playing hockey in junior leagues. From 1947 to 1949, he played for the Jr. Canadiens. This team was part of the QJHL league. He showed he could score goals and play strong defence.

In 1949, he joined the Royal Montreal Hockey Club. He played there for three years. During this time, he improved his skills. He also played a few games with the Montreal Canadiens. This helped him get ready for the NHL.

Winning Cups with the Canadiens

Around 1952, Dollard became a regular player for the Montreal Canadiens. He joined other new players like Jacques Plante. Dollard helped the Canadiens win the Stanley Cup in 1953.

He became a key part of the team's defence. He helped them win three more Stanley Cups in a row. These victories happened in 1956, 1957, and 1958. He was a "stay-at-home" defenceman. This means he focused on defence first.

A Champion in Chicago

After winning three cups, Dollard St. Laurent moved teams. He was sold to the Chicago Black Hawks. The Black Hawks were building a strong team. They wanted to win the Stanley Cup.

In the 1960–61 season, his new team achieved their goal. They won the Stanley Cup. They beat the Red Wings in the finals. This was Dollard's fifth Stanley Cup win. It was his first with Chicago.

Later Career and Retirement

Dollard played for the Chicago Black Hawks until 1962. The next year, he joined the Quebec Aces. This team was in the AHL.

During a game, Dollard had a serious accident. He fell hard and broke his leg. This injury was very bad. It meant he could not return to the NHL. At the end of that season, he decided to retire from hockey.

Life Off the Ice

On May 17, 1952, Dollard St. Laurent got married. His wife was Jessie FitzPatrick. She lived from 1929 to 1993.

Dollard St. Laurent passed away on April 6, 2015. He was 85 years old.
