Early Basketball Journey
Dominic McGuire played basketball in high school. He went to Lincoln High School in San Diego.
College Basketball Experience
After high school, Dominic played college basketball. He started at the University of California, Berkeley with the Cal Golden Bears. He was one of their top scorers in the 2004–05 season. Later, he moved to California State University, Fresno to play for the Fresno State Bulldogs.
Dominic McGuire's Professional Career
Starting with the Washington Wizards (2007–2010)
Dominic McGuire was chosen by the Washington Wizards in the 2007 NBA draft. He was the 47th player picked overall. On August 13, 2007, he signed a three-year contract with the Wizards. He got his first start in an NBA game on April 16, 2008, against the Orlando Magic.
Playing for the Sacramento Kings (2010)
On February 18, 2010, Dominic was traded to the Sacramento Kings. This trade involved a draft pick for the 2010 NBA Draft.
Time with the Charlotte Bobcats (2010–2011)
Dominic signed with the Charlotte Bobcats on July 22, 2010. He was later released by the team on February 24, 2011, after a trade. However, he re-signed with the Bobcats on March 3, 2011.
Joining the Golden State Warriors (2011–2012)
On December 15, 2011, Dominic McGuire signed a contract to play for the Golden State Warriors.
Short Stint with the Toronto Raptors (2012)
Dominic signed with the Toronto Raptors on September 12, 2012. He was released by the team on November 30, 2012.
With the New Orleans Hornets (2012–2013)
On December 16, 2012, Dominic signed with the New Orleans Hornets. He was released by the Hornets on January 4, 2013.
Playing for the Indiana Pacers (2013)
Dominic signed a 10-day contract with the Indiana Pacers on January 7, 2013. He signed another 10-day contract on January 17, 2013.
Brief Period with the Utah Jazz (2013)
On September 26, 2013, Dominic signed with the Utah Jazz. He was later released by the Jazz on October 26.
NBA D-League Teams (2014)
In January 2014, Dominic joined the NBA D-League team, the Santa Cruz Warriors. In March 2014, he was traded to another NBA D-League team, the Tulsa 66ers.
Playing Internationally (2014-2019)
Dominic McGuire also played basketball in other countries. In April 2014, he signed with Gigantes de Guayana in Venezuela. Later that year, he played in Israel for Hapoel Eilat and then Hapoel Holon.
From 2015 to 2016, he played for the Shenzhen Leopards in China. In February 2016, he joined the Leones de Ponce in Puerto Rico.
In 2018, Dominic played for Club Malvín in Uruguay. He then joined the Mexican team Aguacateros de Michoacán in December 2018. His career continued with Real Estelí in 2019.
