Donald Darell Strickland, born on November 24, 1980, is a former American football player. He played as a cornerback in the National Football League (NFL). Donald was chosen by the Indianapolis Colts in the 2003 NFL draft. Before that, he played college football for the Colorado Buffaloes. He also played for teams like the Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers, San Diego Chargers, and New York Jets.

Early Life and High School Football
Donald Strickland grew up in San Francisco, California. He went to Archbishop Riordan High School there. In his final year of high school, Donald was a star running back. He was named "All-League" for his amazing skills.
Football talent runs in his family. His uncle, Raymond Bell, played college football at UCLA. His cousin, Herb Ward, played at Southern California and later in the NFL for the Dallas Cowboys. Donald's father, also named Donald, was a photographer for a TV station in the Bay Area.
College Football Career
Donald went on to play college football at the University of Colorado. He was a very important player for the Buffaloes. In 2001, he helped his team win the Big 12 Conference Championship. That year, he made 78 tackles and caught two interceptions. Both of those interceptions were returned for touchdowns!
In 2002, Donald continued to play well. He had 86 tackles. He also made another interception, which he ran back 95 yards for a touchdown.
Professional Football Career
Donald Strickland played many years in the NFL. He was known for his strong defense as a cornerback.
Indianapolis Colts
The Indianapolis Colts picked Donald in the third round of the 2003 NFL Draft. He played for the Colts from 2003 until the start of the 2005 season. He even started in some games for them.
Philadelphia Eagles
Later in the 2005 season, Donald joined the Philadelphia Eagles. He played in three games for them. The Eagles later let him go during their training camp in 2006.
San Francisco 49ers
Donald then signed with the San Francisco 49ers in October 2006. He played for his hometown team for a few seasons. He signed new contracts with them in 2007 and 2008.
New York Jets (First Time)
In 2009, Donald became a free agent. He signed with the New York Jets in March of that year. He played one season with them before being released in March 2010.
San Diego Chargers
Donald signed with the San Diego Chargers in March 2010. He played one season for the Chargers. After that season, he was released in July 2011.
New York Jets (Second Time)
Just a few days after leaving the Chargers, Donald was re-signed by the New York Jets. He played another season with them in 2011.
