Doneil Henry (born April 20, 1993) is a Canadian former professional soccer player. He played as a centre-back. Doneil is also a co-owner and the Sporting Director for League1 Ontario club Simcoe County Rovers FC. He will become their head coach in 2025.

Playing Career Highlights
Starting in Soccer
Doneil Henry began playing soccer when he was 10 years old. He played for youth teams like the Brampton Youth Soccer Club and North Mississauga SC.
Time with Toronto FC
Doneil joined the Toronto FC Academy in November 2008. He was the captain of the team for two seasons.
In 2010, he played his first game for Toronto FC in Major League Soccer (MLS). He became the first player from the TFC Academy to join the main team. On April 28, 2012, he scored his first goal for Toronto FC. He also scored an important goal in the Canadian Championship against Montreal Impact in 2013. Before the 2014 season, he even trained with Premier League team West Ham United.
Playing in Europe
In April 2014, Doneil was sold to Apollon Limassol, a team in Cyprus. Later, on January 3, 2015, he signed a contract with West Ham United in England. He played his first game for West Ham in August 2015 in a European competition.
Loans to Other Teams
While at West Ham, Doneil was loaned to other clubs to get more playing time.
- Blackburn Rovers: In March 2015, he joined Blackburn Rovers in England. He played well, but an injury ended his loan early. He returned to Blackburn on loan again in November 2015.
- AC Horsens: In August 2016, he was loaned to AC Horsens in Denmark. He played a few games, but another serious injury (ACL tear) ended his season.
Back in MLS
On December 22, 2017, Doneil signed with Vancouver Whitecaps FC. He was loaned to Ottawa Fury for a short time in 2018 to regain his fitness. He returned to Vancouver and scored his first goal for them in March 2019.
Playing in South Korea
In November 2019, Doneil moved to South Korea to play for Suwon Samsung Bluewings. He played in the 2020 AFC Champions League and scored his first goal for the club in October 2020.
More MLS Teams
In February 2022, Doneil returned to MLS, joining Los Angeles FC. He played a few games before leaving the club in July 2022.
He then returned to his old club, Toronto FC, in July 2022 for the rest of the season. After that, he joined Minnesota United in December 2022.
Playing in Canada Again
In July 2023, Doneil signed with HFX Wanderers FC in the Canadian Premier League. He played his first game for them on July 23.
International Career for Canada

Youth Teams
Doneil played for Canada's national youth teams.
- He played three matches for the Canada U-20 men's national soccer team.
- In 2012, he was part of the Canada U23 squad. He scored a goal against the United States U23 in a 2–0 win for Canada.
Senior National Team
Doneil made his debut for the senior Canadian team on August 15, 2012. This was in a friendly game against Trinidad and Tobago, which Canada won 2–0. In December 2012, he was named the 2012 Canadian U-20 Player of the Year.
He was part of the Canadian squad for the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup and the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup. On September 7, 2019, he scored his first goal for Canada against Cuba. He was also in the squad for the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
Doneil was expected to play in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, but he got a calf injury just before the tournament. This injury sadly meant he could not join the final squad.
Management Career
In December 2021, Doneil became a co-owner of a new soccer club called Simcoe County Rovers FC in League1 Ontario. In June 2024, he was named the Sporting Director for the club. He also joined the team's coaching staff. Starting in 2025, he will become the head coach of the team.
