Donkey Kong (ドンキーコング, Donkī Kongu) is a fun platform and puzzle game made by Nintendo. It was released for the Game Boy handheld system in 1994. In this game, you play as Mario, and your main goal is to save his girlfriend, Pauline, from the big ape, Donkey Kong. This is just like the very first Donkey Kong arcade game!
The game starts with four levels that feel a lot like the original arcade classic. Mario has to climb ladders and jump over barrels that Donkey Kong throws. But after these first few levels, the game changes quite a bit. It becomes more like the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series, turning into a puzzle-platformer. You'll need to use your brain to figure out how to get through each stage.
How to Play
In Donkey Kong for Game Boy, Mario has many cool moves. He can jump, climb, and even do a handstand to jump higher! He can also pick up and throw items.
Solving Puzzles
Each level is a puzzle. Mario needs to find a key and carry it to a locked door to finish the stage. Sometimes, you'll need to use switches, move blocks, or avoid enemies to get the key and reach the door. There are also special items that can help Mario, like hammers to smash obstacles.
Boss Battles
At the end of each world, Mario faces off against Donkey Kong in a boss battle. These fights are often big puzzles themselves, where you need to figure out Donkey Kong's weaknesses to defeat him and move on to the next area. The game has over 100 levels, so there's lots to explore!
