Donneloye is a small town, also called a municipality, located in the Jura-Nord vaudois district. This area is part of the canton of Vaud in Switzerland. Think of a canton like a state or a large region within a country.
Over the years, Donneloye has grown by joining with nearby towns. On 11 March 2007, the people of Donneloye decided to merge with the neighboring towns of Gossens and Mézery-près-Donneloye. This merger officially happened on 1 January 2008. Later, on 1 January 2012, the town of Prahins also joined Donneloye. These mergers help the towns work together and share resources.
