Ladonnis Decurtis Crump (born June 2, 1984), known as Donnis, is an American rapper. He grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. Donnis released his first mixtape, Diary of an ATL Brave, in 2009. He later signed with Atlantic Records in 2010.

Early Life and Music Beginnings
Donnis was born in Montclair, California. His family later moved to Atlanta. He found his love for rapping by listening to artists like Kris Kross and the Dungeon Family. Donnis started writing his own rhymes when he was just 9 years old.
After finishing high school, Donnis joined the Air Force. He was stationed in Tokyo, Japan. While there, he began performing and recording his music. He even opened shows for famous artists such as T.I. and Erykah Badu. After about two and a half years, he left the Air Force. This allowed him to focus on his music career full-time. Donnis has said that his time in Japan helped make his music unique. He felt that being around a new culture gave his sound a special touch.
Donnis has also shared that he tries to stay humble. He looks up to other successful artists. He wants to earn the same respect as some of the greatest musicians.
Music Career Highlights
Donnis released his first mixtape, Diary of an ATL Brave, in 2009. This mixtape helped him get noticed. It led to a deal with Fool's Gold Records for his song "Gone." The success of his mixtape also earned Donnis a spot on XXL Magazine's "Freshmen list" in 2010. This list highlights new and promising hip hop artists.
In early 2010, Donnis signed a record deal with Atlantic Records. He chose Atlantic because he felt they were doing great things in the music world. He also liked that the label had other talented artists. This pushed him to grow even more as a musician.
In March 2010, Donnis appeared on the cover of XXL magazine. He was part of their annual "Top 10 Freshman" list. Other artists on the list included J. Cole and Wiz Khalifa. Donnis performed with other "Freshman 10" members in New York City.
In June 2010, Donnis released two more mixtapes. The first was "The Invitation." It featured freestyles of popular songs. The second was "Fashionably Late." This mixtape included collaborations with artists like John Legend and Estelle. It also featured production by Needlz.
On September 28, 2010, Donnis released his first major label project. It was an EP called "Fashionably Late EP" through Atlantic Records.
His mixtape "Southern Lights" came out on April 11, 2011. Donnis shared that this project was more personal. Each song told stories from his life. The house on the cover of "Southern Lights" was even the house he grew up in. Donnis wanted "Southern Lights" to show that he could consistently create great music. In 2011, Donnis worked with a Japanese brand called Onitsuka Tiger. They released an EP together called Nippon Sounds. This EP featured music and remixes by Japanese producers.
