Chidera Anamege, known as Chiddy Bang, is an American rapper from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He started as part of a hip hop duo also called Chiddy Bang. The other member was Noah Beresin, known as Xaphoon Jones.

The duo met in late 2008 while studying at Drexel University in Philadelphia. Chiddy Bang's music mixes hip hop with other styles. They often used samples (small parts of other songs) from artists like Ellie Goulding, Radiohead, and MGMT. In 2013, Noah Beresin left the group to focus on making music for other artists. Chidera Anamege then continued as a solo artist, still using the name Chiddy Bang. Noah Beresin often works with him on new songs.

History of Chiddy Bang

How Chiddy Bang Started

In early 2009, a popular music blog called Pretty Much Amazing shared five songs by Chiddy Bang. Soon after, the group became well-known online and at colleges. They played many shows, including at Swarthmore College in April 2009.

The Pretty Much Amazing blog kept sharing new songs from the duo. In November 2009, they released Chiddy Bang's first free collection of songs, called The Swelly Express. This mixtape quickly became popular online because of its hit song "Opposite of Adults". The Swelly Express told the story of the duo's journey in the music world. Fans really liked how the music was produced. The mixtape also featured a guest appearance from Black Thought of The Roots.

More Music and Tours

On April 8, 2010, Chiddy Bang released another mini-mixtape called Air Swell. They had many fans in the UK, so the mixtape featured popular UK artists like La Roux, Ellie Goulding, and Tinie Tempah.

That same year, the band went on their first big tour, called The Swelly Life Tour. Other artists like Donnis and XV joined them on the tour.

New Mixtapes and First Album

Peanut Butter and Swelly was Chiddy Bang's third mixtape. It came out on May 27, 2011. This mixtape was released before their first official album, Breakfast. Peanut Butter and Swelly had 15 songs and featured other rappers like Trae tha Truth, Casey Veggies, and Mac Miller.

Their first official album, Breakfast, was released early on February 22, 2012. It was available on iTunes and other music stores.

Recent Projects

On June 18, 2014, it was announced that Noah Beresin would no longer be performing as an artist with Chiddy Bang. He decided to focus on producing music. Chidera Anamege then announced he would release a new mixtape called Baggage Claim in late September. However, Baggage Claim has not been released yet.

World Record for Rapping

On April 29, 2011, Chidera "Chiddy" Anamege set a new world record! He rapped for 9 hours, 18 minutes, and 22 seconds at MTV's first O Music Awards in Las Vegas. This earned him a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records for the Longest Freestyle and Longest Continuous Rap.

The previous record was held by Canadian rapper D. O., who rapped for 8 hours, 45 minutes, and 23 seconds in 2003. Chiddy told XXLmag.com that it felt "surreal," which means it felt like a dream. He even had to keep rapping during his two short bathroom breaks to keep the record!
