Donté Lamar Stallworth (born November 10, 1980) is a former professional football player. He played as a wide receiver for ten seasons in the National Football League (NFL). Donté played college football for the Tennessee Volunteers. The New Orleans Saints chose him in the first round of the 2002 NFL draft.
Stallworth also played for other NFL teams. These included the Philadelphia Eagles, New England Patriots, Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Ravens, and Washington Redskins.

Early Life and High School Sports
Donté Stallworth was born in Sacramento, California. He went to Grant Union High School in Sacramento. There, he was a talented athlete in both football and track and field. He ran the 100 meters in 10.49 seconds and had a long jump of 7.16 meters. He played high school football with future NFL players Onterrio Smith and Paris Warren.
College Football Career
Stallworth played college football at the University of Tennessee for the Volunteers. His teammates called him "Hands" because he made many difficult catches. In 2001, he had two games in a row where he caught three touchdowns each. One game was against Memphis and the other against Kentucky. In another game, he returned a punt 55 yards for a touchdown. During the 2001 season, he caught 41 passes for 821 yards and ten touchdowns.

Playing for the New Orleans Saints
The New Orleans Saints picked Donté Stallworth in the first round of the 2002 NFL draft. He was the 13th player chosen overall. He played his first NFL game on September 8 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In that game, he caught four passes for 63 yards and scored a touchdown. He was the first player in 20 years to catch a touchdown in his first four games. In his first year, 2002, he caught eight touchdown passes. In 2004, he became a full-time starter and gained 767 receiving yards with five touchdowns. In 2005, he had his best year with the Saints, catching 70 passes for 945 yards and seven touchdowns.
Time with the Philadelphia Eagles
On August 28, 2006, Stallworth was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles. In his first game with the Eagles, he caught six passes for 141 yards and a touchdown. He missed three games that season because of a hamstring injury. Still, he finished the year with 725 yards and five touchdowns. He also caught a touchdown in each of the Eagles' playoff games that season.
First Time with the New England Patriots
On March 11, 2007, Stallworth joined the New England Patriots. He was part of the famous 2007 Patriots team that won all 16 regular season games. They later lost to the New York Giants in Super Bowl XLII. In the Super Bowl, he caught three passes for 34 yards. For the 2007 season, he had 46 catches for 697 yards and three touchdowns. The Patriots decided not to keep him after that season, and he became a free agent.
Joining the Cleveland Browns
On March 1, 2008, Stallworth signed a contract with the Cleveland Browns. In 2008, he had 17 catches for 170 yards and one touchdown. He did not play in the 2009 season due to a league suspension. On February 8, 2010, after being allowed to play again, the Browns ended his contract.
Playing for the Baltimore Ravens
On February 16, 2010, Stallworth signed a one-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens. During a preseason game on August 28, 2010, he broke his foot. His coach said the injury was not serious enough to end his season. Stallworth returned to play in November. On December 23, 2010, his teammates voted for him to receive the Ed Block Courage Award.
First Time with the Washington Redskins
Stallworth signed a one-year deal with the Washington Redskins on July 29, 2011. He was released on November 8, 2011. However, he re-signed with the Redskins on November 15, 2011. This happened after other players were injured. After returning, Stallworth caught a touchdown pass in Week 11 against the Dallas Cowboys. This helped the Redskins go into overtime. By the end of the 2011 season, he had 22 catches for 309 yards and two touchdowns.
Second Time with the New England Patriots
On March 19, 2012, Stallworth signed with the New England Patriots again. He was released on August 27, 2012. On December 3, 2012, he re-signed with the Patriots because of injuries to other wide receivers. On December 11, he was placed on injured reserve due to an ankle injury. He had played in only one game during this brief return, making a 63-yard reception for a touchdown.
Second Time with the Washington Redskins
Stallworth re-signed with the Redskins on June 12, 2013. He was waived by the Redskins on August 26, 2013.

Life After Football
Work in Journalism
In September 2014, Donté Stallworth began working for The Huffington Post. He had a six-month fellowship covering national security politics. He hoped to be hired permanently after the fellowship. In 2016, he became a Strategy Consultant at Valens Global. His work there focuses on making public places safer from attacks.
Hot Air Balloon Accident
On March 16, 2013, Stallworth was in a hot air balloon accident. The balloon, carrying him and two other people, crashed into power lines in South Florida. He was taken to the hospital with serious burns.
