Dooly the Little Dinosaur facts for kids

Dooly the Little Dinosaur (Korean: 아기공룡둘리) is a super popular Korean animated movie and TV show for kids! It was created by the famous cartoonist Kim Su Jeong.

The story of Dooly first appeared as a cartoon in a magazine called "Bomulsom" (which means "Treasure Island"). This was from 1983 to 1993. Later, it was turned into the animation we know today. The show is all about Dooly and his friends. They get into all sorts of fun adventures and sometimes a little trouble! They travel to many different places and face exciting challenges. Dooly often uses his amazing superpowers to help out. Douner, another character, also has a special "time cosmos" which is like a time machine!

This animation became a huge hit in Korea. The TV series had very high ratings, meaning lots of people watched it. The movie version was also incredibly popular, bringing in millions of viewers. Dooly even received an honorary citizenship from the city of Bucheon!

Dooly the Dinosaur

Dooly is a baby Ceratosaurus dinosaur. He got his special powers after aliens kidnapped him and did experiments on him. After that, he was stuck in an iceberg for about 10 million years! Eventually, he ended up in modern-day Seoul. Dooly doesn't always know how to control his magic powers. But when things get dangerous, he somehow manages to use them. His special yell when he uses powers is "Hoi Hoi!"

Dooly is a kind dinosaur, but he can be very mischievous. He often causes trouble and plays tricks on Go Gil Dong, the man whose house he lives in. Go Gil Dong isn't a big fan of Dooly. However, Go Gil Dong's wife, Park Jeong Ja, often takes Dooly's side. This is because Dooly takes good care of their baby, Hee Dong.

Douner the Alien

Douner is an alien from a planet called Kantapia. He owns a special violin-shaped "time cosmos." This amazing device lets him travel through both space and time! Douner can also use some supernatural powers by saying "kantapia." He was traveling through space when his time cosmos broke down. Now he can't go back home. When he first landed on Earth, he saw Dooly. Because of this, he thinks Dooly is a typical Earth creature. He even sees humans as pets!

Ddochi the Ostrich

Ddochi is an ostrich who came all the way from Africa. She used to be in a circus, but life there was too hard, so she escaped. She can do some cool tricks like dancing, riding a bicycle, and acrobatics. She can even spin dishes! However, she isn't always the best at them. Ddochi acts like a beautiful princess, but her feet are often dirty! She sometimes argues with Douner.

Go Gil Dong

Go Gil Dong was just an ordinary dad living a normal life. But everything changed when Dooly came to his house! Now, he faces new troubles almost every day. He often tries to get Dooly and his friends to leave, but it never works. So, he really doesn't like Dooly. Even so, he always makes sure Dooly and his friends have food to eat. He's kind enough to let three homeless people/animals live in his home.

Hee Dong

Hee Dong is Go Gil Dong's young nephew. His parents are studying abroad, so Go Gil Dong and his wife are taking care of him. Hee Dong is still very young and wears a diaper. He can be quite stubborn! At first, he used to fight fiercely with Dooly. But as time went on, he grew to like Dooly a lot. Hee Dong is one of the main reasons Dooly can stay in Go Gil Dong's house, even though Go Gil Dong dislikes him so much.

Ma I Kol

Ma I Kol is Go Gil Dong's neighbor. He dreams of becoming a singer, but he isn't very good at it. He looks like a typical African man, but he is actually Korean! His last name is 'Ma'. Dooly thinks of him as his singing teacher. Dooly, Douner, and Ma I Kol once formed a band together called "Nuclear Bomb and Guided Missiles." They were supposed to lose a singing contest, but they won thanks to Dooly's amazing supernatural powers! The character of Ma I Kol was inspired by the famous singer Michael Jackson.
