Bucheon is a big city in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. It's about 25 kilometers (15.5 miles) from Seoul. Think of it as a "satellite city" of Seoul, meaning it's a smaller city close by that helps support the bigger city. Bucheon is located right between two other major cities, Incheon and Seoul.
Bucheon is one of the most crowded cities in South Korea, second only to Seoul. Because of this, the city changed its administrative system in 2016. It removed its old districts to offer better public services directly through community centers.
Most of the factories and manufacturing businesses are in the northern part of the city. The southern areas are busy with shops, businesses, and homes. This is where the Seoul Subway Line 7 and Seoul Subway Line 1 pass through.

History of Bucheon
In 1914, some areas from Incheon and Bupyeong County were combined and named Bucheon. Later, in 1931, a part called Gyenam township was renamed Sosa township.
Over the years, some parts of Bucheon were given back to Incheon City in 1936 and 1940. In 1941, Sosa township became a larger town, known as eup.
In 1963, when Seoul expanded, some areas of Bucheon became part of Yeongdeungpo-gu in Seoul.
In 1988, Bucheon was divided into two main districts: Nam-gu (South District) and Jung-gu (Central District). Then, in 1993, Jung-gu was split again to create two new districts: Wonmi and Ojeong.
However, in July 2016, all three of these districts were removed. Bucheon decided to become a single, unified city to make its administration simpler and more efficient.
