Dos Rios is a small, unincorporated community in Mendocino County, California. An unincorporated community is a place that doesn't have its own local government. Instead, it is managed by the county. The name "Dos Rios" comes from the Spanish words for "Two Rivers." This name makes sense because the community is located near where two important rivers meet.

A Look at History
The community's post office first opened in 1912. Back then, it was called "Two Rivers." In 1915, its name was officially changed to Dos Rios. The Northwestern Pacific Railroad offered passenger service to the area until 1971.
