A Look at Drammen's History
The Town of Drammen was officially created on November 14, 1873. It was formed when the southern part of the Town of Brunswick was separated. When it was first established, it had a different name: the Town of Lant.
However, the name was changed a few years later, on January 24, 1877. The new name, Drammen, was chosen to honor the city of Drammen, Norway. This shows a connection to the heritage of some of the early settlers in the area. By 1910, the town's population had grown to 869 people.
