Carlton Andrew Valentine II (born May 25, 1991), known as Drew Valentine, is an American college basketball coach. He is currently the head coach for the Loyola–Chicago Ramblers team. He started this important job in 2021. Before becoming a coach, he played college basketball at Oakland University in Michigan. Later, he also worked there as an assistant coach.

Drew Valentine's Playing Days
Drew Valentine played as a forward for the Oakland Golden Grizzlies from 2009 to 2013. During his time there, his team made it to the NCAA tournament twice. He played in more games than almost anyone else in the program's history. He was also one of the top players in getting both offensive and defensive rebounds.
Becoming a Coach
After his playing career ended, Valentine started his coaching journey.
Starting at Michigan State
He joined the staff at Michigan State as a graduate manager. His younger brother, Denzel Valentine, was a player on the team at that time. Drew worked with the Michigan State team for two seasons.
Returning to Oakland
After his time at Michigan State, Valentine went back to his old college, Oakland. He became an assistant coach there. He was the youngest assistant coach ever hired by the long-time head coach, Greg Kampe.
Coaching at Loyola–Chicago
In 2017, Valentine joined the coaching staff at Loyola–Chicago. He was in charge of the team's defense. In his first season with Loyola, the Ramblers had an amazing run. They made it all the way to the Final Four in the NCAA tournament.
In 2021, Drew Valentine was promoted to head coach of the Loyola–Chicago team. This happened after the previous coach, Porter Moser, left to coach at Oklahoma. When he was hired, Drew was 29 years old. Many believed he was the youngest head coach in NCAA Division I men's basketball at that time.
Drew Valentine's Family Life
Drew Valentine comes from a family of basketball players. His younger brother, Denzel Valentine, was a very famous college player. Denzel was named the Associated Press College Basketball Player of the Year while playing for Michigan State. He was then picked by the Chicago Bulls in the 2016 NBA draft.
Drew's father, Carlton Valentine, also played college basketball at Michigan State. Today, his father is the head coach for the basketball team at J. W. Sexton High School. Both Drew and Denzel went to this high school.
