Drosera roraimae is a special type of sundew plant. It grows naturally in Brazil, Guyana, and Venezuela. Sundews are amazing carnivorous plants. They catch insects with sticky leaves.
This plant was first described as a type of Drosera montana. That was before it became its own unique species in 1957.
About the Roraima Sundew
The name roraimae comes from Mount Roraima. This is a famous "table-top" mountain, also known as a tepui. It is located where Brazil, Guyana, and Venezuela meet. The very first plant of this kind was found there. This first plant is called the type specimen. It helps scientists identify the species.
