Dry Well Creek is a small stream located in Harney County, Oregon, in the United States. It flows through a region known as the Harney Basin in Eastern Oregon. The creek's lowest point, where it joins another stream, is about 5,000 feet (1,524 meters) above sea level. Dry Well Creek is part of the larger water system that eventually flows into Malheur Lake. This lake is special because it's in a "Great Basin" area, meaning water flows into it but doesn't flow out to the ocean.

Discovering Dry Well Creek
Dry Well Creek is an interesting stream because it doesn't always flow with water. It's what we call an intermittent stream, meaning it flows only at certain times of the year, usually after rain or snowmelt. Even so, it's a home for many fish and other water creatures.
Where Does the Water Go?
The water from Dry Well Creek eventually flows into Emigrant Creek. Emigrant Creek then joins the Silvies River. All these streams are connected and contribute water to the Malheur Lake area.

Helping the Creek Stay Healthy
Dry Well Creek is part of a special project to help restore its watershed. A watershed is all the land where water drains into a specific stream or river. This restoration project aims to make the creek and its surroundings healthier for all the plants and animals that depend on it. It helps improve the water quality and the natural habitats along the creek.
