List of Phineas and Ferb episodes

"Dude, We're Getting the Band Back Together" is a super fun episode from the animated TV show Phineas and Ferb. It was the 14th episode to air. It first showed up on Disney Channel in the United States on March 8, 2008. Later, it also aired on Disney XD on February 13, 2009.

In this episode, Phineas Flynn and Ferb Fletcher have a big mission. They want to get a famous band called Love Händel back together. Why? It's a special gift for their parents' wedding anniversary.

The story for this episode was created by Bobby Gaylor and Martin Olson. Chris Headrick and Chong Lee drew the storyboards. The director was Dan Povenmire, who also helped create the show. The band members of Love Händel are actually based on some of the show's creators! Jaret Reddick, Carlos Alazraqui, and Steve Zahn were the special guest voices for the band.

"Dude, We're Getting the Band Back Together" was really popular with fans. Many people think it's one of the best Phineas and Ferb episodes ever. The show's creators have also said it's one of their favorites. The song "I Ain't Got Rhythm" from this episode was even nominated for an Emmy Award!

What Happens in the Episode?

Phineas and Ferb's parents, Linda and Lawrence, are having a little disagreement. Lawrence has forgotten something important. Linda leaves, and Candace tells Lawrence it's their wedding anniversary!

Lawrence finds an old album by a band called Love Händel. He tells the kids that he and Linda shared their first kiss at the band's last concert. Candace, Phineas, and Ferb watch a TV show about where the band members are now. They decide to reunite the band for their parents.

Candace tries to keep Linda away from the house. Meanwhile, Phineas and Ferb go looking for the band members.

Perry's Secret Mission

At the same time, Perry, who is a secret agent, goes to the hideout of his enemy, Dr. Doofenshmirtz. But Dr. Doofenshmirtz isn't planning anything evil today. He's trying to throw a birthday party for his 16-year-old daughter, Vanessa.

Doofenshmirtz explains that he always messes up Vanessa's birthdays. Perry sees how sad Doofenshmirtz is about it. So, Perry decides to put their rivalry aside and help Doofenshmirtz with the party.

Getting the Band Back Together

Phineas and Ferb try to convince the Love Händel band members to play again. The lead singer, Danny, agrees right away. But the bassist, Bobbi Fabulous, and the drummer, Swampy, need more convincing. Phineas and Ferb use songs to persuade them!

While this is happening, Isabella and the Fireside Girls start building a stage. Lawrence tries to make a special dinner, but it catches fire! His plans for the anniversary are ruined. Phineas and Ferb arrive and tell Lawrence not to worry. They explain that the band has agreed to play. Candace keeps Linda busy by taking her to the mall to try on dresses.

Party Chaos and a Happy Ending

Back at his lair, Doofenshmirtz ties Perry to a giant firecracker rocket. He plans to use it for fireworks and get rid of Perry. But when Vanessa arrives, she hates the "girly" party theme. She's worried her goth friends will make fun of her.

At Phineas and Ferb's house, Love Händel starts arguing during rehearsal. They think no one wants to hear them anymore. But then they hear the crowd cheering!

Doofenshmirtz is sad that he failed Vanessa's party again. He decides to light Perry's rocket to cheer himself up. But Perry breaks free! During their fight, Doofenshmirtz accidentally gets tied to the rocket instead.

Just as the band starts to play, Candace and Linda arrive home. Linda reunites with Lawrence. Ferb yells for Lawrence to kiss Linda, and they do!

Doofenshmirtz's rocket launches and makes his lair messy and partly destroyed. But Vanessa's goth friends arrive and think the messy, creepy look is super cool! Vanessa is happy and thanks her dad for finally getting a birthday party right. She also thanks Perry for helping.

As the rocket goes up, Doofenshmirtz is yelling at Perry, but then he sees Love Händel playing below. The band finishes their song just as Doofenshmirtz's rocket explodes with a heart-shaped flare. The episode ends with Love Händel singing "Music Makes Us Better." Everyone, even Doofenshmirtz, dances along!

How the Episode Was Made

"Dude, We're Getting the Band Back Together" was written by Bobby Gaylor and Martin Olson. Chris Headrick and Chong Lee drew the storyboards. The director was Dan Povenmire, who is one of the show's creators.

It's a cool fact that each member of the band Love Händel was inspired by a real person on the show's production team! These people were musicians themselves. Danny was named after and based on Dan Povenmire. Bobbi Fabulous was based on Bobby Gaylor. And Swampy was based on co-creator Jeff "Swampy" Marsh. Both Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh played in bands for many years. Bobby Gaylor also recorded music.

The episode had special guest voice actors for the band members. Jaret Reddick, who is the lead singer of the band Bowling for Soup (they sing the Phineas and Ferb theme song!), voiced Danny. Carlos Alazraqui voiced Bobbi Fabulous, and Steve Zahn voiced Swampy.

Love Händel's Legacy

Love Händel has appeared in other Phineas and Ferb episodes too! They made a quick appearance in the season two episode "Thaddeus and Thor." Doofenshmirtz even sang about his childhood to the tune of their song "Snuck Your Way into My Heart."

Three songs from this episode – "Ain't Got Rhythm," "Fabulous," and "You Snuck Your Way Right Into My Heart" – are on the Phineas and Ferb soundtrack. "Ain't Got Rhythm" was voted as the 8th best song from the first season by viewers! The band also appeared in "Just Passing Through" and "Hip Hip Parade." They sang two songs for the movie Phineas and Ferb: Summer Belongs To You!: "Bouncin' Around the World" and "The Ballad of Klimpaloon." They were also part of the "Carpe Diem" song in "Rollercoaster: The Musical!"
