Duey Alto is a small community, or barrio, located in the town of San Germán, Puerto Rico. In 2010, about 1,350 people lived there. It's a part of the beautiful island of Puerto Rico.
History of Duey Alto
After a war called the Spanish–American War, Spain gave Puerto Rico to the United States in 1898. This was part of a peace agreement known as the Treaty of Paris of 1898. Because of this, Puerto Rico became a territory of the United States.
In 1899, the United States Department of War counted the people living in Puerto Rico. This count is called a census. They found that Duey Alto and a nearby community called Rosario Peñón had a combined population of 1,100 people.
