Dugway is a small community in Tooele County, Utah, United States. It is called a census-designated place (CDP). This means it's a special area defined by the government for counting people. In 2000, about 2,016 people lived there.
Dugway is located inside a large U.S. Army facility called Dugway Proving Ground. This makes it a "closed city." To enter, you must pass through military checkpoints. People who don't live there need special permission to visit. The homes for military and civilian workers are in an area called "English Village."
The name "Dugway" comes from an old way of digging a trench. This trench was dug along a hillside. It helped keep wagons from tipping over.
