How Old Is Dumbarton East Station?
Dumbarton East station first opened its doors on 1 October 1896. It was originally built by the Lanarkshire and Dunbartonshire Railway.
Unlike most stations on the North Clyde Line, Dumbarton East has an island platform. This means the platform is in the middle, with tracks on both sides. This design was common for the railway company that built it. In 1961, the railway lines were updated with electricity.
