The Dumbarton Football Stadium, often called The Rock, is a stadium in Dumbarton, Scotland. It's mainly used for football games. This stadium is the home ground for Dumbarton Football Club. Since 2023, Broomhill Football Club also plays here.

The stadium can hold 2,020 people. It was built in 2000. Before this, Dumbarton FC played at Boghead Park. The new stadium was built on land that used to be part of Denny's shipyard. You can walk to the stadium in 5 to 10 minutes from Dumbarton East railway station. This station is on the North Clyde Line. Dumbarton FC's stadium is the third smallest in the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL).

History of The Rock Stadium

The Dumbarton Football Stadium has only one main stand. It officially opened on Saturday, December 2, 2000. The first match played there was against Elgin City. Dumbarton, also known as "The Sons," won that game 3–0.

Fans call the stadium "The Rock" because it is right next to Dumbarton Castle. The castle sits on a large, rocky hill. The three sides of the stadium without stands are open areas.

Who Else Uses the Stadium?

The Scotland international football team has used the stadium for training. They train here before playing their home matches. Also, Celtic Football Club has used the stadium. They played their UEFA Youth League home games here.

In 2023, a team from the Lowland Football League, Broomhill, made a deal. They moved from Broadwood Stadium in Cumbernauld. Now, they play their home games in Dumbarton.

Other Events at the Stadium

Besides football, the stadium hosts many other events. It is used for things like wedding receptions, business meetings, and parties.

Stadium Names Over Time

The stadium's name has changed several times. This usually happens when a new company becomes the main sponsor.

Original and Early Names

The stadium was first called the Strathclyde Homes Stadium. This name changed in September 2011. The company, Strathclyde Homes, faced financial problems.

On February 18, 2012, the stadium was renamed. It became the Dumbarton Football Stadium, sponsored by DL Cameron. Just five months later, on July 20, 2012, it changed again. It was then called The Bet Butler Stadium.

Later Sponsorships

On July 9, 2015, the stadium got a new name. It was unveiled as the Cheaper Insurance Direct Stadium. This happened after a fan, Alex Couper, and his company took over the sponsorship.

At the end of the 2016–17 football season, the name went back to Dumbarton Football Stadium. In July 2017, the club made a deal with a local radio station. For at least two years, the stadium was known as 'The YOUR Radio 103FM Stadium'.

This deal ended in May 2018. Your Radio was facing an uncertain future. A week later, C&G Systems agreed to a three-year deal. In September 2021, a housing company called moreroom became the sponsor. The stadium's name changed to the moreroom.com stadium.

After moreroom stopped operating in 2023, the stadium's name changed back. It is now called the “Dumbarton FC Stadium.”
