Duque is a special kind of neighborhood called a barrio in the town of Naguabo, Puerto Rico. In 2010, about 2,425 people lived there. It covers an area of about 4.5 square miles. Duque is a part of the beautiful island of Puerto Rico.
A Look Back: History of Duque
Duque has an interesting past. After the Spanish–American War in 1898, Spain gave Puerto Rico to the United States. This happened under a peace agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898. Puerto Rico then became a territory of the United States.
In 1899, the United States government counted the people living in Puerto Rico. This count, called a census, showed that 1,238 people lived in Duque barrio. Over the years, the number of people living in Duque has changed.
