Durbuy is a charming town and a group of villages (called a municipality) in Belgium. It's located in the province of Luxembourg, which is part of Wallonia, the French-speaking region of Belgium.
The Durbuy municipality covers an area of about 156.61 square kilometers. It includes several districts like Barvaux, Bende, Bomal, Borlon, Durbuy, Grandhan, Heyd, Izier, Septon, Tohogne, Villers-Sainte-Gertrude, and Wéris.
As of January 1, 2018, about 11,374 people lived in the Durbuy municipality. Barvaux is the largest town within this area. Durbuy often calls itself "the world's smallest city" for tourism reasons. However, Mesen has been officially recognized as Belgium's smallest city since 2006.

History of Durbuy
A long time ago, in the Middle Ages, Durbuy was a busy place for trade and making things. It was an important center for business.
Becoming a City
In 1331, Durbuy was given the special title of "city." This was done by John I, Count of Luxemburg, who was also the King of Bohemia. This title meant Durbuy had certain rights and importance.
The Castle and Families
In 1628, a family named Schetz took over the area of Durbuy. One important person from this family was Charles Hubert Augustin Schetz, who became the Count of Durbuy.
Later, in 1756, the descendants of the Schetz family, known as the House of Ursel, came to live in the Durbuy Castle. The castle you see today was built in 1880.
Geography and Tourism
The Ourthe river flows right through the Durbuy municipality. This river adds to the beautiful scenery of the area.

Today, Durbuy is mainly known for its tourism and fun activities. Many people visit Durbuy because it's a lovely place to relax and explore. It's often promoted as 'the smallest city of the world' to attract visitors.
