Ruth "Dusty" Anderson (born 1916 or 1917 – died September 12, 2007) was an American actress and model. She was famous in the 1940s. During World War II, she was a popular pin-up model. Her pictures appeared in Yank magazine. This magazine was for soldiers.
Dusty Anderson's Acting Career
Dusty Anderson was born in Toledo, Ohio, in the United States. She started her career as a model. Her first movie role was a small part in the 1944 film Cover Girl. This movie starred the famous actress Rita Hayworth.
Over the next three years, Dusty acted in eight more films. She usually played supporting roles. During World War II, she became a well-known pin-up girl. Pin-up girls were actresses or models whose photos were very popular with soldiers. Her picture was in the October 27, 1944, issue of YANK magazine. This magazine was made for the United States Military.
Dusty Anderson also appeared in mystery films. These included Crime Doctor's Warning (1945) and The Phantom Thief (1946).
Dusty Anderson's Personal Life
Dusty Anderson was married two times and had two children. On July 18, 1941, she married Charles Mathieu, Jr. He was a United States Marine Corps Captain. They divorced on June 13, 1945.
Later, on July 21, 1946, Dusty married director Jean Negulesco. They got married in West Los Angeles, California. After this marriage, she stopped acting in movies. Four years later, she had a small, uncredited role in one of her husband's films.
In 1971, Dusty Anderson and Jean Negulesco moved to Paris, France. They lived there in retirement. Dusty Anderson passed away in Marbella, Spain, on September 12, 2007. She was buried in the city's Cementerio Virgen del Carmen.
