Dwight Bush's Early Life and Education
Dwight Bush was born in East St. Louis, Illinois. He was one of five children. He has often said that his parents worked hard to make sure their children had every chance to succeed in life.
He went to Cornell University, a well-known college. In 1979, he earned a bachelor's degree in government. While there, he joined a special student group called Quill and Dagger. He also learned a lot about world events from his history professor, Walter LaFeber. Dwight Bush said that his time at Cornell helped him get to where he is today.
Dwight Bush's Career in Business
After college, Dwight Bush started working at Chase Manhattan Bank. He stayed there for 15 years. He focused on international banking, which meant he worked on projects in other countries like Latin America, the Middle East, and Asia. He also helped companies with their money and big projects. He eventually became a managing director, which is a very important role.
In 1994, he left Chase Manhattan and became a vice president at Sallie Mae. Over the next ten years, he held many different jobs. These included working at Stuart Mill Capital and SatoTravel Holdings. He also became the founder of D. L. Bush & Associates. This company in Washington, D.C., helps businesses with money and advice. From 2006 to 2008, he was the president and CEO of Urban Trust Bank. This bank aimed to help communities in cities.
Dwight Bush has also worked with many schools and research groups. These include Cornell University and Xavier University of Louisiana. He has also helped groups that give money to good causes, like the GAVI Alliance, which helps fund vaccines.

U.S. Ambassador to Morocco

On August 1, 2013, President Obama chose Dwight Bush to be the United States Ambassador to Morocco. He would take over from the previous ambassador, Samuel L. Kaplan.
Dwight Bush had to speak to the United States Senate Committee on Foreign Relations about his nomination. This happened on September 24, 2013. At that time, many ambassador choices were being delayed. Finally, on March 13, 2014, the Senate approved his appointment. He became the ambassador later that month.
As ambassador, Dwight Bush worked to keep the good relationship between Morocco and the United States strong. In an interview in 2016, he said he believed Morocco had a bright future. He noted its open business environment and that it was a "moderate, progressive Islamic state." He felt Morocco was ahead of many other countries in its region.
