Délifrance is a company that makes delicious "French style" baked goods. They offer many products like bread, pastries, and snacks. You can find their products in over 100 countries around the world! Délifrance started in 1983.
Their sister company, Grands Moulins de Paris, is a big French company that grinds grain into flour. This company provides all the flour Délifrance uses for its products.
Délifrance has twelve smaller companies in Europe and the Middle East. Their restaurants serve freshly baked items. These include croissants, cakes (called gâteaux), flatbreads (like fougasses), chocolate pastries (pains au chocolat), sweet breads (brioches), crunchy praline treats, and long baguettes. Most Délifrance restaurants also offer drinks and pasta dishes.
How Délifrance Started
The story of Délifrance began in 1919. That's when the Vilgrain family created a company called Les Grands Moulins de Paris. Later, in 1983, Délifrance was officially born. It started by making pastries, viennoiserie (a type of baked good like croissants), and tasty savoury items.
In 1997, a company called Sembawang Corporation Limited bought a big part of Délifrance Asia Ltd. Then, in 1999, another company, Prudential Asset Management Asia Limited (PAMA) Group Inc., bought all of Délifrance Asia Ltd. This made it a private company.
In December 2007, a company from Singapore called Auric Pacific Group Limited bought Délifrance Asia Ltd from PAMA. Auric Pacific Group itself became a private company in 2017.
Délifrance Around the World
In the Philippines, a well-known company called Jollibee Foods Corporation ran Délifrance restaurants from 1995 to 2010. After 2010, the two companies stopped working together. All the Délifrance restaurants in the Philippines then changed their name to CaféFrance. Jollibee later sold CaféFrance to another company.
Délifrance also had many franchise restaurants in Malaysia until 2015. By 2016, it seemed all these places had closed without any official announcement. However, in 2020, Délifrance came back to Malaysia! They opened a new restaurant at the Publika Shopping Gallery in Kuala Lumpur.
