E'Twaun Donte Moore (born February 25, 1989) is an American professional basketball player. He is currently a scout for the Chicago Bulls in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was chosen by the Boston Celtics in the 2011 NBA draft after playing college basketball at Purdue University. In high school, he led East Chicago's Central High School to win an IHSAA state championship.

While playing for Purdue Boilermakers men's basketball, he was a Second-Team All-Big Ten player as a freshman and sophomore. He became a First-Team All-Big Ten player as a junior and senior. He was also recognized for his good grades, being named Academic All-Big Ten twice and a Second-Team Academic All-American in 2010. As a junior and senior, he was named an Honorable Mention All-American by the AP.

High School Basketball Star

Moore played high school basketball at Central High School in East Chicago. In his final year, he scored about 21 points, grabbed 5.5 rebounds, and made 3.3 assists per game. That same year, he helped his team win the 2007 Indiana High School Athletic Association 4A State Championship. He scored 28 points in the championship game against Indianapolis North Central High School. Their team included future NBA player Eric Gordon. Moore also won the tournament's Trester Award, which is given for sportsmanship and leadership. He was named to the Indiana All-Star Team and was honored as a third-team Parade All-American.

College Recruiting Process

After high school, colleges wanted Moore to play for them. Scout.com ranked him as the eighth best high school shooting guard in the country. Rivals.com said he was the seventh best shooting guard and the 35th best player overall. ESPN saw him as a point guard and ranked him as the 4th best point guard and 20th best player in the nation.

He received offers from many big universities like Illinois, Indiana, and Tennessee. He chose to go to Purdue. He joined other talented players like Robbie Hummel and JaJuan Johnson. They were part of a highly-ranked recruiting class for Purdue.

Freshman Year (2007–2008)

As a freshman, Moore was a top player for Purdue. He led the team in scoring with 12.9 points per game. This made him the first freshman in Purdue history to lead the team in scoring. He also set a new freshman record for most three-point shots made with 66. Moore helped Purdue reach the NCAA tournament for the second year in a row. They finished the season with a strong 25–9 record. He was named to the Second Team All-Big Ten and the Big Ten All-Freshmen Team.

Sophomore Year (2008–2009)

In his sophomore year, Moore was again the leading scorer for Purdue. He also ranked second in assists and third in rebounds. He helped Purdue win its first Big Ten tournament championship ever. He then led them to the NCAA tournament Sweet Sixteen, which was their first time in 9 years. He was again named Second Team All-Big Ten. He played in 37 games, which was a school record for a single season.

Moore started his junior season as a candidate for the John R. Wooden Award, a top college basketball award. He scored his 1,000th career point, becoming the 43rd Purdue player to do so. He helped Purdue start the season with 14 wins and no losses, which tied the school's best start ever. He was also recognized for his academic achievements, being named a Second Team Academic All-American. Moore led Purdue in scoring with 16.5 points per game. He helped Purdue win a share of the Big Ten Conference regular season title. He was named a First Team All-Big Ten player. Moore led Purdue to the NCAA tournament Sweet Sixteen again. Purdue finished the season with a 29–6 record, tying the school record for most wins in a season.

Senior Year (2010–2011)

After his junior year, Moore thought about entering the NBA draft but decided to return to Purdue for his senior season. He was named a Preseason First Team All-Big Ten player. On November 26, 2010, Moore scored 31 points, his first time scoring over 30 points in a game. He scored 31 points again on New Year's Eve, making a career-high 7 three-point shots. On February 20, Moore scored a career-high 38 points against #3 Ohio State. This was the most points scored by a Purdue player since 1994. He also reached his 2,000th career point in this game. Moore was named a finalist for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award, which recognizes senior college athletes for their achievements in four areas: community, classroom, character, and competition. He was again selected for the First-Team All-Big Ten along with his teammate JaJuan Johnson. Moore finished his senior year averaging 18 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game. He was named a Third Team All-American by the National Association of Basketball Coaches and Fox Sports.

Professional Basketball Career

Playing in Italy (2011)

The Boston Celtics drafted Moore as the 55th pick in the 2011 NBA draft. Because of an NBA lockout (when players and teams can't agree on rules), Moore signed a temporary deal to play for Benetton Treviso in Italy. This deal allowed him to return to the Celtics once the lockout ended.

Boston Celtics (2011–2012)

When the NBA lockout ended, Moore signed a contract with the Celtics in December 2011. He played his first NBA game on Christmas Day. He scored his first NBA points on January 4, 2012. He started getting more playing time when other players were injured. On January 26, 2012, he scored 16 points against the Orlando Magic, making all four of his three-point attempts.

Orlando Magic (2012–2014)

In July 2012, Moore was traded to the Houston Rockets, but he was soon released. In September 2012, he signed with the Orlando Magic. He started many games for the Magic when other players were injured. On November 6, 2012, he scored a career-high 17 points against the Chicago Bulls, and later tied that with 18 points against the Brooklyn Nets. He also set a career-high with 11 assists on March 1, 2013, against the Houston Rockets.

Chicago Bulls (2014–2016)

Moore signed with the Chicago Bulls in September 2014. On March 5, 2015, he scored a career-high 19 points and made the game-winning three-point shot with just 2.1 seconds left to help the Bulls beat the Oklahoma City Thunder. On February 3, 2016, he scored a new career-high of 24 points while starting for an injured teammate. He scored 24 points again on February 21 against the Los Angeles Lakers.

New Orleans Pelicans (2016–2020)

In July 2016, Moore signed with the New Orleans Pelicans. He started his time with the Pelicans by scoring 10 points in his first game. On December 11, 2017, he had a career-high 36 points and made a career-best six 3-pointers in a game against the Houston Rockets. On April 4, 2018, he scored 30 points and made a career-high seven 3-pointers. In November 2018, he scored 30 points against the Toronto Raptors and 31 points against Minnesota. His role with the Pelicans changed, but he often played important minutes, especially in the fourth quarter, helping the team win games.

Phoenix Suns (2020–2021)

Moore signed with the Phoenix Suns in November 2020. He started getting more playing time in January 2021. On February 8, he started a game and scored a season-high 17 points, helping the Suns win. Moore and the Suns made it all the way to the 2021 NBA Finals, but they lost to the Milwaukee Bucks.

In September 2021, Moore signed with the Orlando Magic again. However, he got a knee injury during the preseason and was released by the Magic in February 2022 without playing a game for them.

Life After Playing Basketball

After his playing career, Moore has become a successful businessman. He has invested in a project to develop the Dallas Executive Airport. He also owns two McAlister's Deli restaurants, a transportation company in Orlando, and real estate in different states.

In 2024, Moore was hired as a scout by the Chicago Bulls. A scout's job is to watch basketball players and teams to find new talent and help their team prepare.

E'Twaun Moore was born in East Chicago, Indiana. His parents are Ezell and Edna Moore. He has a brother named Ezell and a sister named Ekeisha.
