Eagle Comics facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Eagle Comics was a company that published comic books for a short time. They took popular comic stories from a UK magazine called 2000 A.D. and reprinted them. These reprinted comics were then sold in North America, which includes places like the United States and Canada. Eagle Comics was active from 1983 to 1986. Their main office was in London, England, but their comics were made and sent out from Canada.

The Story of Eagle Comics

Eagle Comics was started by a person named Nick Landau. His idea was to take exciting stories from a collection of comics, called a comics anthology, and print them again. He wanted to put them into the style of American comic books. This was similar to how his other company, Titan Books, was already reprinting them as larger collections called trade paperbacks. In 1986, another company called Quality Communications took over the right to print these comics.

Popular Comic Series

Eagle Comics brought many cool series to readers in North America. Here are some of the comic titles they published:

  • Judge Dredd (33 issues) - This series was so popular that another company, Quality Comics, kept publishing it after Eagle Comics stopped.
  • Judge Dredd: The Judge Child Quest (a mini-series with 5 issues)
  • Judge Dredd's Crime File (a mini-series with 6 issues)
  • Judge Dredd: The Early Cases (a mini-series with 6 issues)
