East Keansburg is a small, friendly community in New Jersey. It's known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a neighborhood that's part of a larger town, in this case, Middletown Township. You can find it in Monmouth County.
Where is East Keansburg Located?
East Keansburg is, as its name suggests, just east of the town of Keansburg. A major road, Route 36, runs along its southern side. To the east, across a small waterway called Pews Creek, is Port Monmouth. The northern part of the community touches the beautiful Raritan Bay. This area is often considered part of the "North Middletown" region of the township.
Protection from Floods
East Keansburg is protected by a special earthen wall. This wall is known as "the dike." It was built to keep the community safe from flooding. This is especially important during big storms. The dike helped protect the area during powerful storms like Hurricane Sandy.
