River system Saint Louis River

The East River is a small stream located in northern Minnesota, United States. It's considered a "headwaters tributary" of the much larger Saint Louis River. This means it's one of the very first, small streams that feed into the Saint Louis River, helping it grow bigger.

What is the East River?

The East River is quite short, only about 3.0 miles (4.8 km) (which is about 4.8 kilometers) long. It begins its journey from a place called Stingy Lake. From there, it flows along with another small stream, the North River. Both of these rivers eventually flow into Seven Beaver Lake.

Where Does the Water Go?

Seven Beaver Lake is a very important spot because it's known as the official source of the Saint Louis River. So, the water from the East River travels into Seven Beaver Lake, and then becomes part of the Saint Louis River. The Saint Louis River is a major waterway in Minnesota that eventually flows into Lake Superior, one of the Great Lakes. This shows how even a small river like the East River plays a part in a much larger water system.
