Eastlake is a city in Lake County, Ohio, United States. It gets its name because it is located northeast of Cleveland, right along the shore of Lake Erie. In 2020, about 17,670 people lived there. Eastlake is also known for being where a power plant went offline, which led to a very large power outage across North America in 2003.

History of Eastlake
On August 14, 2003, a huge power outage happened across North America. This event, which affected 50 million people in eight U.S. states and parts of Canada, started when a power plant in Eastlake stopped working. This happened at 1:31 P.M. EDT because there was a very high demand for electricity.
Geography and Location
Eastlake is a city with a total area of about 6.53 square miles (16.93 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, and a small part is water.
The city is located about 19 miles (30 kilometers) northeast of Cleveland, Ohio. It sits right along the beautiful shore of Lake Erie. Eastlake is also part of the larger area known as Greater Cleveland.

Eastlake is home to the Boulevard of 500 Flags. People say it is "the world's largest permanent display of American flags."
