Easy Date was a super fast Quarter Horse born in 1972. She was an amazing racehorse and later became a successful mother (called a broodmare) to many champion horses.
About Easy Date
Easy Date was born in 1972. She was a beautiful bay horse, which means she had a reddish-brown body and a black mane and tail. Her dad was a famous horse named Easy Jet, who is in the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame. Her mom was a Thoroughbred horse named Spot Cash. Spot Cash's family tree included other legendary horses like Teddy and Man o' War.
Her Amazing Racing Career
Easy Date was a champion on the racetrack. In 1974, she won the important All American Futurity race. The next year, in 1975, she won two more big races: the Rainbow Derby and the Golden State Derby. Because of her incredible wins, she was named the AQHA World Champion Quarter Running Horse in 1975. She was also the AQHA Champion Quarter Running Two-Year-Old Filly in 1974. During her racing days, Easy Date won 22 races! She earned a lot of money, over $849,000. She also received an AQHA Superior Race Horse award for her speed and success.
Becoming a Mother and Her Legacy
After her racing career, Easy Date became a broodmare. This means she had foals (baby horses). She had eleven foals in total. Eight of her foals became successful racehorses themselves, earning a special award called a Race Register of Merit from the AQHA. Three of her foals won important stakes races, and one even won a Superior Race Horse award, just like their mom! Her children earned over $101,000 on the racetrack. In 2002, Easy Date was honored for her amazing life and contributions to horse racing. She was inducted into the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame.
