Jet Deck's Early Life
Jet Deck was born on April 19, 1960, in California, USA. His father was a horse named Moon Deck. His mother was Miss Night Bar, whose grandfather was the famous horse Three Bars (TB).
Jet Deck's Racing Career
Jet Deck was an amazing racehorse. He won many important races called stakes races. The American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) recognized him as a champion. In 1962, he was named the Champion Quarter Running Two Year Old Colt. The next year, in 1963, he became the World Champion Quarter Running Horse.
He raced for two years, starting in 31 races. Jet Deck won 22 of those races! He also came in second place four times and third place twice. He earned a lot of money, over $200,000, which was a huge amount back then. He also had a very high speed rating of AAAT, which means he was incredibly fast.
Breeding and Passing Away
After his racing days, Jet Deck became a stud horse. This means he was used to father many new horses. Sadly, he passed away on August 26, 1971, due to an injection.
Before his death, Jet Deck became the father of 383 horses that earned a "Register of Merit" for their racing achievements. He also sired several world champion Quarter Running Horses. Among his famous children are Easy Jet, Jet Smooth, Jet Threat, and Mr Jet West.
Honors and Legacy
Jet Deck's amazing achievements were remembered long after his death. In 1991, he was honored by being inducted into the AQHA Hall of Fame. This is a very special award for horses who have made a big impact on the Quarter Horse breed.
