Ebulo de Montibus, also known as Ebal II de Mont, was an important knight who lived from about 1230 to 1269. He was born in a region called Pays de Vaud, which is now part of Switzerland. At that time, this area was part of Savoy. His family, the Famille de Mont, owned a castle near a town called Rolle.

Serving the English Kings
Ebulo became a knight for King Henry III of England. The King gave him a lot of land in England. By 1256, Ebulo was working closely with Prince Edward. Prince Edward later became King Edward I. Ebulo might have been a "steward," which meant he helped manage the royal household. He officially served as a steward for King Henry III for several years, from 1256 to 1263.
A Witness to History
Ebulo de Montibus was present at an important event called the Mise of Amiens. This was an agreement where King Henry III accepted a decision made by King Louis IX of France. Ebulo swore that King Henry III would follow the agreement.
Loyalty During the Barons' War
During a difficult time called the Second Barons' War, Ebulo showed great loyalty. This war was a conflict between King Henry III and some powerful English nobles. Ebulo left England with Queen Eleanor of Provence and Peter II, Count of Savoy. They worked hard to gather an army to support the King. Because of his strong loyalty, Ebulo was rewarded. He was made the Constable of Windsor Castle. This was a very important job, as the Constable was in charge of the castle.

Ebulo de Montibus had a son named Ebal IV. Ebal IV followed in his father's footsteps.
A Squire for Prince Edward
Ebal IV started his career as a squire, a young knight-in-training, for Prince Edward. In 1283, he was given an important task. Along with Jean Cosyn de Grandson, he was responsible for the early building of Harlech Castle. This was before the first official Constable of the castle was appointed.
Close to the Royal Family
Ebal IV was very close to Eleanor of Castile, who was King Edward I's wife. He might have even married Lady Elizabeth de Clinton because of her help. Ebal IV also fought in Scotland in 1300 and gained land there. Later, he became the Constable of two other important castles: Stirling Castle and Edinburgh Castle.
