Edwin Mah "Ed" Lee (Chinese: 李孟賢; May 5, 1952 – December 12, 2017) was an American politician and lawyer. He was a member of the Democratic Party. He served as the 43rd Mayor of San Francisco, California. He was mayor from January 11, 2011, until he passed away. Before becoming mayor, he was the City Administrator of San Francisco from 2005 to 2011. He was the first person of Asian American background to become mayor of San Francisco.
