The city is part of a larger area that includes cities like McAllen, Edinburg, and Mission. Edcouch was started in 1927. It was named after Edward Couch, who was a landowner and banker.

Where is Edcouch Located?
Edcouch is in the eastern part of Hidalgo County, Texas. You can find it where State Highway 107 and Farm to Market Road 1015 meet. Nearby cities include Elsa to the west and La Villa to the east.
Edcouch is about 13 miles (21 km) east of Edinburg. Edinburg is the main city for Hidalgo County. Edcouch is also about 22 miles (35 km) northeast of McAllen. It is 20 miles (32 km) northwest of Harlingen.
