Early Life and Military Service
Edgar Foshee joined the United States Army and became a Sergeant Major. This is a very high rank for a non-commissioned officer. He was part of the Special Forces, which are highly trained soldiers who do special missions.
Serving in Vietnam
During the Vietnam War, Edgar Foshee served in Vietnam. He worked with the U.S. Army and later with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). The CIA is a government agency that gathers information about other countries to protect the United States. In Vietnam, he helped the government of South Vietnam in their fight against the Communist forces from North Vietnam.
Life After Service
After his time in the military and with the CIA, Edgar Foshee retired in 1974. He later owned a construction company for a few years. By 1980, he retired completely and moved to Florida.
Working for Freedom
Even after retiring, Edgar Foshee continued to be involved in important work. On April 30, 1995, he became the Chairman of the International Committee for an organization called The Government of Free Vietnam. This group was made up of people who had left Vietnam and wanted to see a free and democratic government there. They worked to support freedom for the Vietnamese people.
